Kawai CN301 with 19 voices, 88-key sampling, 40w speakers and built-in lesson function.

Sound
A replacement for the CN39, the new Kawai CN301 has 45 different voices (from electric pianos to organs!), can record and playback performances and much more! The CN301 is a step up from CN201 because it also produces the sound of the SK-5 Kawai grand piano as well as the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX and Kawai EX concert grands and it has 256 note maximum polyphony! The virtual technician is also more advanced, allowing you to adjust even more parameters including not only the string resonance but the undamped string resonance and cabinet resonance as well. You can also adjust the hammer noise as well as the hammer delay.

There are also many different Jazz, Pop and upright pianos sounds that are also included with this piano-so you won't just be restricted to the sound of a grand piano if you are looking play music from a variety of genres. You can even have two different sounds available on different parts of the piano at the same time. By using the control panel you can directly select different sounds rather than holding buttons to change different settings.

Appearance
This digital piano is available in three wood finishes (satin white, satin black and rosewood) with an Ivory Touch key surface. It is suitable for small, narrow rooms due to its compact yet traditional style. The simple control panel with only a few buttons, is located on the left side of the piano.

Action
A responsive hammer III keyboard action is built into the piano and has been improved to give the most realistic and acoustic feel closest to that of a Kawai grand piano. This means the bass notes are slightly heavier and the mid-upper register is lighter to the touch. The noise of thumping has been greatly reduced using extra felt cushioning in parts of the action. Full 88-key sampling also means that every key has its own unique representation of the notes found on a Kawai grand piano. Even the pedals have a grand piano feel with the damper design being complimented with half-pedal support.

Headphones
Of course there is bluetooth and audio connectivity (for phone, laptop, tablet) and if you want to plug your headphones in, the reality of the concert grand sound will not disappear due to the spatial headphone sound built into the headphones! The headphones have may different settings that allow you to adjust spacial positioning of the sound and the desired headphone type.

Speakers
The audio is top-notch with 40W speakers accurately reproducing the most realistic representation of an acoustic piano due to their flat frequency response (meaning the input of the recorded frequencies matches the output). Achieving a flat-frequency response is extremely difficult, but the CN301 speaker system has managed produce this exceptional quality. The redesigned motherboard and speaker system means very little can distort the clear and hi-fi sound. If you are playing pieces of music with a wide variation of dynamics but want to turn the volume of the whole piano down, the CN301 will still adjust so that your softest playing can still be played using your usual technique. This is achieved using the Low Volume Balance feature.

Built-in lesson function
If you are a beginner looking to improve your playing, Alfred lesson books have been built into this piano to help you on your way. There are even more lesson settings on the CN301 than the CN201 (12 in total) and 5 Alfred lessons available including the Alfred's basic adult piano course level 1! This is a useful resource for teachers just as much as the Four Hands mode that is available by splitting the keyboard into two sections for both students and teachers to use simultaneously. The classical etudes book is also included.

If you need some time out from practising, you can even stream videos and song through the speakers. If you are a keen piano player who frequently practices, this piano will be of brilliant use to you as it has been built to withstand many hours of playing whilst maintaining the same quality in years to come.
