Millennium III Upright Action

At the heart of the K-700 is Kawai’s exclusive Millennium III upright action, incorporating ABS-Carbon composite components.

By combining carbon fibre with Kawai’s ABS material, the action components can be made lighter while retaining considerable strength and rigidity. This helps the K-700 deliver a fast, responsive action with precise control, allowing the pianist to play with both delicacy and power.

The action is supported by a robust keybed constructed from laminated hardwoods and reinforced with rear braces, helping to maintain stability and minimise energy loss during playing.

Rich, powerful acoustic tone

The K-700 features a solid spruce, tapered soundboard measuring approximately 1.47 m², together with a maximum string length of 1,230 mm.

The generous scale provides the foundation for a rich, resonant sound with substantial projection and sustain. Fore duplex scaling further enhances the harmonic content of the treble register, contributing additional brilliance and tonal complexity.

The K-700 also uses mahogany-core hammers with double felt, carefully designed to provide a broad range of tonal colour and dynamic expression.

NEOTEX key surfaces

Kawai’s NEOTEX key surfaces are designed to provide a natural, secure playing surface whilst being highly resistant to cracking and fading.

The material also helps absorb natural oils from the fingers, providing a comfortable surface for playing during longer practice sessions.

Grand-style design

The K-700 combines the proportions of a substantial upright piano with a distinctive grand-style cabinet design.

A soft-fall key cover and lock are also included, with three pedals including sostenuto.
