German-built Rönisch upright piano in a striking polished mahogany case - compact, characterful and built to last.
This Rönisch upright piano is a compact, traditionally styled instrument finished in polished mahogany, offering a practical and characterful option for the home.
Rönisch is one of Germany’s oldest piano manufacturers, founded in Dresden in 1845, with a long history of producing well-built instruments using traditional European construction methods.
A piano from 1990 places it at an interesting point in the company’s history - built in Leipzig during the final years of East German production, just before and around reunification when the factory transitioned back into private ownership.
These instruments were produced as part of the large scale “Deutsche Piano-Union” system, where Rönisch formed part of one of Europe’s biggest piano manufacturing groups.
At approximately 115cm in height, this piano sits in the smaller upright category, making it well suited to modern homes where space is limited. Despite its size, it retains the benefits of a full acoustic piano action, offering a consistent touch suitable for beginners through to intermediate players working through graded exams.
The tone is warm and rounded, in keeping with European pianos of this type, with enough clarity for practice and general repertoire.
The cabinet is a particular feature, finished in polished mahogany with a traditional appearance. It is fitted with castors for easier positioning and includes a practice pedal (celeste), allowing for quieter playing when needed.
